Ads

You've been reading our site trying to gain insightful information and helpful tips when it comes to navigating the world of marketing. One of the many reasons any business, whether it's a small at home business that sells personalized hand garden tools or an international corporation like Home Depot, is successful is because of the way they market themselves. A company like McDonalds can advertise that they've served a billion customers because they've successfully marketed themselves over the years as having a product that people want and others can't match. Sure, you can go to Burger King or Wendy's, but you can't get a Big Mac there. There's a reason why McDonald's has been able to succeed in foreign markets where their competitors have had trouble, and it has a lot to do with the way they advertise and market themselves.

As you've learned by reading our site, there are two main forms of marketing - paper marketing and internet marketing. They're pretty self-explanatory and you've been able to figure out what types of marketing each division deals with. For the purpose of this section, we want to focus more on the types of paper marketing that are used by companies. But if you're looking for ways to market your Cabbagetown blog, don't despair, because there are other sections of our site that can help you with the information you need about internet marketing.

You see different types of paper marketing every day. They've become such a natural part of our society that you're not even phased when you see a new billboard anymore. It takes a lot to notice a billboard ad these days. Some billboard ads are direct and to the point and tell you what you need to know about what's being advertised. A Pickering real estate agent might have a billboard ad up that displays their contact info and perhaps a positive testimonial. But you know what you're getting out of that billboard ad. Other billboards are more puzzling but just as effective. Any person who drives on Highland near Fountain in Hollywood sees the humongous poster of filmmaker Tommy Wiseau's face that advertises his cult hit The Room. It's effective because it makes people wonder why such an ad is in place. It doesn't give out any information about his movie, yet people still flock to see it, making it one of the most successful billboards ads going, as it's been up since 2003.

Another form of paper marketing is flyers. You may have had a flyer route when you were a child, where you were a few cents for every flyer you delivered, and you still remember just how many hundreds of homes those flyers were sent to. Flyers are a great example of paper marketing because home owners get them no matter what, unless they specifically request to not have any flyers delivered to their homes. They're free to the consumer and don't hit them over the head with information they don't want. If they're looking through a K-Mart flyer and see prices for cloth diapers on the same page as baby clothes, they're informed about a product they weren't looking for without being pestered about one they had no interest in.

Newspapers are also a good source for paper marketing as they have ads placed all over their pages in every section. If you're trying to market your Sage software BC company, you have the opportunity to place your ad in the business section, the sports section, the lifestyle section, etc. It's always good to try and hit the markets you know your customers read, but at the same time, it might not be so bad to branch out and place an ad in a different section, as you could reach new clients. As you can see, paper marketing can be achieved in a variety of ways.
